With media representations of resistance to the US-led occupation of Iraq conflating disparate groups under the broad label of "insurgents," note Al-Ali (gender studies, U. of London, England) and Al-Najjar (a doctoral candidate in American studies and ethnicity at the U. of Southern California, US), there has been little analysis of the actual political and armed resistance to the occupation, much less the everyday forms of resistance that do not involved violence.
