Taking different perspectives on the multinational corporation and its environment, this book addresses theoretical and empirical issues relevant to the management of the multinational. Contributors are from Europe and Australia. Part I outlines a typology of emerging hypermodern MNCs and explores the role of HQ in the global factory. Part II looks at HQ's monitoring and value-creating roles, with chapters on determinants of HQ's involvement in innovation transfer, and the role of national culture in the HQ-subsidiary relationship. In Part III, two contributors discuss the Uppsala model of internationalization in the form of a critical dialogue, followed by analysis and comments by a third contributor. Material draws on work presented at a September 2007 international workshop, held at Uppsala University. The book will be of interest to students and researchers in international business and management. Andersson is affiliated with Copenhagen Business School, Denmark. Holm is affiliated with Uppsala University, Sweden. Annotation ©2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
