Andrews (archivist, New Mexico State U.) has collected the personal letters of Daniel B. Jett, the Dean of the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts from 1938 to 1947, revealing the fact that Jett exchanged correspondence with hundreds of his former students throughout World War II. These letters served to encourage these young people, many of whom served as soldiers and nurses in Allied forces abroad, by maintaining a loyalty and nostalgia for the college (most of these entries are addressed to "Dad Jett.") These entries are accompanied by photographs of the correspondents whenever possible, and appendices include photo scans of some of the original documents.
