Written for clinicians, this volume presents a model, research background, guidelines, and clinical examples that integrate narrative with emotion-focused therapy. The model shows how emotion and narrative processes contribute to effective therapeutic outcomes and change, and can be used to understand how people function in disorders such as depression, trauma, addictions, and personality disorders. The authors explain five processing modes that facilitate new meaning making and self-narrative change, how therapists use them with clients toward the goals of empathic attunement and changing narratives, common problem and meaning-making markers and strategies for intervention, and case studies applying the model to clients with depression and emotional trauma. Angus, who co-developed the narrative processes model, and Greenberg, who developed emotion-focused therapy, are both psychologists at York U., Canada.
