The English Heritage reports of archaeological finds in Britain are known for their quality and meticulous accuracy. This account of the excavation of a cemetery in Wiltshire is no exception. The work was done under archaeologist Annable and completed after his death by Eagles and his colleagues. The excavation is summarized and then the grave goods listed by category. This is followed by an interpretation of the goods as compared to other similar sites and speculations on the community, as yet undiscovered, in which the people lived. Two of the graves seem to be of prisoners, possibly Britons, opening a whole range of possible scenarios. Each grave is then described in detail, including condition of the remains and grave goods. This is followed by scientific reports on the composition of soil, pottery and the goods themselves. These reports are supplemented by tables, drawings and photographs.
