Andreangeli (law, U. of Liverpool, UK) examines the antitrust and merger procedural rights of those being investigated under Articles 81 and 82 of the European Commission Treaty and of the Merger Control Regulation. She discusses their compliance with fair procedure as set by the European Convention on Human Rights and the degree of protection afforded by the European Commission law in three areas: the right to be heard and have access to the Commission file, the right to legal professional privilege, and the right to the privilege against self-incrimination. In addition, she examines the right to challenge Commission antitrust merger decisions, the impact of the Modernisation Regulation, and current standards of administrative due process provided by European Commission law in the area of competition enforcement. The book is aimed at scholars in the fields of competition law, European Union law, and human rights, and practitioners in competition law. The book is based on Andreangeli's PhD thesis from 2006.
