Written in a user-friendly format, with examples, tips, checklists, a case study, and examples of completed forms, this reference for school teams, education students, and parents provides a conceptual framework for designing and evaluating positive behavioral support (PBS) plans for students with developmental disabilities. While the focus is on designing individual PBS plans in schools, the process described is relevant across different age ranges and settings. The framework includes detailed directions on using functional behavioral assessments to design individualized PBS plans which incorporate prevention, teaching alternate skills, consequence interventions, and long-term supports. An abridged version of the framework outlines the assessment process for students with less intensive problem behaviors. FAQs and a list of guiding questions for designing plans are included. This second edition mirrors updates to PBS over past decade, and contains new material on collaboration and a new chapter on implementing plans. Bambara is professor of education at Lehigh University. Knoster teaches in the Department of Exceptionality Programs at Bloomsburg University. There is no subject index.
