Human rights advocates and conflict resolution practitioners may have the same goals but they make different assumptions, apply different methodologies, and have different institutional constraints and therefore often run afoul of each other. With this collection of 12 essays, it is the intention of the editors (the codirector and former executive director of the Center for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts U.) to prompt conflict resolution and human rights scholars and practitioners to think more creatively about the intersection of the two fields so that they can recognize their interdependence, operate in synergy, and learn from one another. The essays explore these issues in the contexts of conflict and human rights in Colombia, Sierra Leone, and Northern Ireland. Annotation ©2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
