About 25 readers theater scripts for grades 3-8 are collected here, based on the lives of contemporary and historical people who are inspirational because of their ability to overcome adversity. Most of those profiled are well-known entertainers and athletes, with a few scientists and political figures. Each script has been evaluated using the Flesch-Kincaid readability formula for grade level, with a readability level of grades 2 or 3, making them ideal for remedial or developing readers. Brief instructions for presentation are included. By reading, performing, and discussing the plays, students will practice their oral reading skills, build fluency, and build their own models for good character.
