Clinical Perfusion MRI provides the more recent advances in perfusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), while providing excellent information on the theoretical and experimental aspects. Barker (radiology, John Hopkins University), Golay (neuroscience, UCL Institute of Neurology), and Zaharchuk (radiology, Stanford University) describe recommended procedures as well as potential pitfalls. Progress has been rapid since the introduction of MRI, in techniques for depicting flow, and perfusion MRI is now part of clinical practice. The editors aim to provide a readable, yet comprehensive book on the subject of perfusion MRI, which gives clinicians foundational knowledge needed to put this technique into practice. Sixteen chapters are divided into two sections: technique, and clinical applications. Section 1 treats theoretical background and measurement, and technical aspects of dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC), dynamic contrast enhancement (DCE), and arterial spin labeling (ASL, as well as chapters on neuroscience, measuring blood flow volume, and oxygenation. Section 2 provides a comprehensive review of clinical applications in neurological diseases and throughout the body, and, a chapter devoted to perfusion MRI in pediatrics. This concise and readable book targets clinicians and researchers. There is a multitude of color and black-and-white figures, lists of contributors and abbreviations, and key points.
