Once upon a time there was a cartoon about King Arthur: the plot concerned modern-day football players who were magically transported back in time by Merlin to replace the mysteriously absent Knights of the Round Table. If educators or parents prefer that children receive a less distorted version of Middle Ages history, Barnhouse (English, Youngstown State University) has written a book filled with suggestions. There are 13 chapters, each dealing with a subject from the Middle Ages. In the chapter on the Vikings, for example, Barnhouse offers assessments of books written for children and teenagers about the Vikings.
