Presenting the “Collaborative Change Model,” the authors aim to facilitate collaboration between therapists and clients struggling with complex trauma. The book amounts to a blueprint for awareness and change. It shows that in a case of complex trauma ->/relational abuse over an extended period of time - practitioner and client must address a multitude of issues, and must do so in a certain order. The book guides the therapist through three phases of working with clients: Creating a Context for Change (six activities including assessing vulnerabilities and resources and setting goals), Challenging Patterns and Expanding Realities (seven activities including exploring interventions, challenging vulnerabilities and the function of symptoms), and the Consolidation of Change and Moving Forward (six activities including engaging vulnerabilities and engaged acknowledgement). The model creates teams and a sense for a client that she and the therapist “are in this together.” Annotation ©2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
