This book, the first volume in a new series on international criminal law, offers a doctrinal framework for international criminal law (ICL) that reflects a mixed methodology. Editor Bassiouni (DePaul University College of Law) hopes to establish ICL as a distinct discipline that relies on other disciplines and their respective legal regimes. After an overview of the discipline of ICL, chapters cover topics such as international crimes, principles of criminal responsibility, international cooperation in penal matters, the international criminal court, and procedural and evidentiary norms in international criminal proceedings. One chapter is devoted to country case studies demonstrating mixed models of ICL. Final chapters examine ICL in the age of globalization, the future of ICL, and qualitative analysis of international criminal justice. Many chapters include several appendices of data charts and other materials. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
