The newly revised third edition of this environmental economics textbook provides both an examination of the fundamentals of microeconomics as they relate to natural resources and also a discussion of the nexus of the market, public policy and ethics as they interact to create the broader concept of resource economics. The work is divided into seven sections covering natural resource supply and scarcity, microeconomic foundations of production and consumption, economic theory and public policy, cost-benefit analysis of environmental policy, management of non-renewable resources, air, land and water use policy and environmental ethics and sustainability. Economic formulas, charts and graphs are provided throughout the work. Bergstrom is a professor of public policy at the University of Georgia and Randal is the chair of the department of agricultural, environmental and development economics at Ohio State University.
