This competency model for training and development professionals, derived from 100 workplace learning and performance (WLP) experts from interviews of 2,000 WLP professionals focuses on what to expect in the next few years, and how to prepare for it. The study locates eight trends shaping the profession, from uncertainties in the economy to new expectations, a greater need for flexibility, and changes brought by technology. From these the experts developed the competency model pyramid, based on fundamental competencies and focus areas, and topped by four areas of successful execution.
