In January 2007, the Belgian inter-university working group Institutum Iudaicum initiated a symposium at the Catholic University of Leuven in order to take stock of the current study of Rabbinics and the New Testament. Scholars from across Europe gathered and discussed methodology in Rabbinic studies, halakhah, midrash, and other materials. The 16 papers discuss such topics as a historical sketch of such study, dating Rabbinic traditions, the social profile of the Pharisees, Sabbath laws in the New Testament gospels, divorce halakhah in Paul and the Jesus tradition, First Adam and Second Adam in 1 Corinthians 15:45-49 in the light of midrashic exegesis and Hebrew usage, and Targum and the New Testament.
