Blohm is a cross-cultural educator and training consultant based in Washington, D.C.; Lapinsky is an international educator, trainer, and program manager, currently based in Brazil. They present a collection of brief personal accounts of 26 immigrants, from age 10 to 30-plus, which provide a youthful perspective on crossing cultures and learning to appreciate differences. Each narrative is followed by discussion questions and suggestions for research and related activities. The text also contains a separate section of activities and resources for further work on specific topics: cultures and customs; immigration and citizenship; stereotypes, tolerance, and diversity; and linking the classroom to the community. For individuals interested in fostering intercultural awareness and sensitivity, including educators, volunteers, youth organization staff, and parents. No subject index.
