Law scholars Bowman (Mississippi College-Jackson) and David A. Gantz (U. of Arizona-Tucson) team up with Nick Covelli, legal counsel to the government of Canada, and Ihn Ho Uhm, a consulting trade economist in Canada, to explore legal measures that can be pursued under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) if a violation of any of its provisions is suspected. They begin with anti-dumping and countervailing duties, considering international rules affecting North America, NAFTA Chapter 19, and law and practice in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Then they run the use of safeguards through the same changes. Other topics are economic and policy perspectives on trade remedy laws, the role of economic analysis in material injury estimation, and statistical analysis of trade remedy cases in North America. Case studies are presented of softwood lumber from Canada, cement from Mexico, and Canada and steel. Distributed in the US by Aspen Publishers, Incorporated.
