Bram and Peebles present this volume on the utility and application of psychological testing, written from the psychodynamic perspective of the authors’ experience. The book begins with big-picture considerations, presenting the Menninger approach to testing and discussing treatment-centered diagnosis, inference, and useful assessment selection. Parts II and III discuss the details of test usage by outlining core psychological capacities to be assessed--reality testing and reasoning, emotional regulation, and self/other experience as it relates to the therapeutic alliance and esteem vulnerability--and how to use test results to build a picture of underlying psychological disruptions amenable to intervention. The final section moves back to an integrated focus by giving examples of findings reporting and a case study. Annotation ©2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
