This book is a significant contribution to the history of Bingham Canyon, Utah. It focuses especially on the Upper Bingham (Copperfield) area and the open-cut Utah Copper mine. “Copperfield Remembered” contains over 142 photos with detailed descriptions dating back to the 1890s. Many new-to-print photos, descriptions, and human interest stories are presented. The Utah Copper mine and equipment used is pictured and described from its inception in 1906 to 2003. The community of Copperfield was on the edge of the Utah Copper open-pit from the mine's beginning until the town was demolished and engulfed by the mine in 1958. A history of underground and placer mining in the area is also presented, beginning with the first recorded mining claim in Utah in 1863. The last part of the book tells of the author and his family's personal adventures in Copperfield. The cover is remarkable - it is composed of a 1926 photo of the town and a 2003 color photo of the open-pit mine.
