This revised critical edition presents Emily Bronte's classic British Victorian novel (the 1847 text, the only version published in Bronte's lifetime) along with critical essays that read Wuthering Heights from four contemporary critical perspectives.
A fifth essay demonstrates how several critical perspectives can be combined.
Each critical essay is accompanied by an introduction to the critical perspective and by a bibliography that promotes further exploration of that approach. The text and essays are complemented by an introduction to biographical and historical contexts of Wuthering Heights, a survey of critical responses to the novel since its initial publication, and a glossary of critical and theoretical terms.
In the second edition, the introductions and the glossary have been significantly revised and updated, and two of the essays (by Pykett and Meyer) are new, as are cultural documents that complement the text.
