The International Association for the Study of Dreams held a conference in Berkeley, California in the summer of 2005 where the 19 essays here were first presented as papers. Scholars of the sibling religions, of course, but also of anthropology, law, and psychology explore how both traditions believe in the religious potency and practical usefulness of dreams. Like so many Western scholars, they hope to find an avenue for dialogue between Christianity and Islam that ignores petroleum and refugee camps. Their topics include early Christians and their dreams, dreaming through the Bible with Luther and Calvin, dreams and visions of the dying, dreaming in the life of the Prophet Muhammad, the Jinn as companion in the realm of dreams and imagination, women and dream interpretation in contemporary Iran, conversion dreams in Christianity and Islam, the typical dreams of Jordanian college students, and dreams of Muslim and Christian children.
