Authors Bygrave and Zacharakis, both affiliated with Babson College, cover all stages of the entrepreneurial process in this textbook for business students. A special feature of the book is the inclusion of extended, real-life case studies covering many situations and industries. For this second edition, many cases are new; almost all of the cases occurred in the past three years, and most of the entrepreneurs in the cases are recent graduates so that students can relate to them. Two opening chapters discuss the role of entrepreneurship in the US economy and around the world and overview critical factors for starting a new enterprise. The middle of the book looks at what to do before opening a business, such as building a business model, marketing, team building, and financial projection. The last part of the book reviews sources for financing in the US and worldwide and describes how to raise money. There are two chapters on legal and tax issues, and, new for this edition, a final chapter on social entrepreneurship. Each chapter ends with opportunity journal exercises and web exercises. A test bank, lecture slides, and more cases are available for teachers. B&w photos are included in a two-color layout. Annotation ©2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
