The third edition of this volume (earlier editions were titled Geriatric nursing protocols for best practice) has over 15 new topics and 17 revised and updated chapters. Among the new topics are nutrition, hydration, oral health care, cancer, and substance abuse. In keeping with the title change, many case studies are included and the level of evidence available is rated in each chapter, based on criteria discussed in the first chapter. The volume, which can be used in classrooms as well as by practitioners, is clearly organized, with educational objectives outlined at the beginning, an overview of the chapter and background information on the topic, and many inset boxes describing examples and case studies.
