The mathematician Charles Dodgson wrote several things under his pen name of Lewis Carroll and among these were a series of pamphlets, often only a few pages long. The fourth volume of these pamphlets contains ones on the subject of logic. Editor Abeles has done a thorough job of collecting the pamphlets. She explains the mathematical history involved, including the influence of Boolean logic on Dodgson. The various introductions to the pamphlets are given, even when Dodgson made only minor changes. One section, on a paradox Dodgson proposed, is particularly interesting, as solutions suggested by many of the great minds of the day are included. This publication presents a side of Dodgson's life that was more important to him than his exercise in illogic resulting in the Alice books.
