Chapman (education, Minnesota State U.) and Hyatt (the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community at Indiana U.) show how critical conversations can be used to foster teacher collaboration. They describe six models of co-teaching and review critical conversations theory, then provide a framework of four types of critical conversations to engage partners, examine data, enhance instruction, and expand the impact of teachers. The book includes four chapters (to match the four types of critical conversations) that contain detailed critical conversation protocols that help partners and teams develop more effective co-teaching practice. Ideas are illustrated with stories from the classroom. There is also discussion of how co-teaching can fit into other initiatives, such as response to intervention (RTI), professional learning communities (PLCs), and differentiated instruction. The book includes numerous planning sheets, templates, and activities; a companion website offers downloadable protocol sheets. Annotation ©2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
