Charteris (historical musicology, U. of Sydney, Australia) catalogs the previously unexamined sixteenth-century music collection of Johann Georg von Werdenstein (1542-1608), now in the Bayerische Staatsbibliotek München. He traces how the Duke of Bavaria obtained the collection, as well as its earlier provenance and later history, and describes the inventories and the details of the materials. This is followed by a table of the contents listing folio references and editorial print numbers, headings and entries, editorial description and commentary, shelf marks, and the RISM designation for each print. Prints that are held in multiple copies are detailed separately. Several facsimiles are shown in the text. Indexes are of shelf marks and names and places.
