Since 1978, Irish troops have served in Lebanon as part of the United Nations Interim Force. This autobiography is focused on Clonan's time there as an artillery officer from 1995 through 1996. From accounts of his relations with fellow soldier Battery Sergeant Begly to his description of the indignant troop reaction on film night to a showing of Disney's The Lion King, this work has a casual tone. Yet it also covers serious events, such as the Israeli attack in Qana on April 1996 in which 106 innocent men, women, and children died, along with 116 seriously wounded.
