In the fall of 2006, the Teagle Foundation awarded a grant to the American Economic Association's Committee on Economic Education and five other disciplinary associations to investigate the role of their respective majors in promoting undergraduate liberal education. This volume, edited by Colander (economics, Middlebury College) and McGoldrick (economics, U. of Richmond, US) is the product of the discussions resulting from the economics side of that project.
