The second in a series intended to assist the student nurse in taking examinations, particularly the NCLEX-RN examination for licensure as a registered nurse, this work presents the standard practice test questions found in most review books, but the authors (all of Trinity Valley Community College in Texas) authors also include test- taking hints on analyzing questions in order to better determine the answers. Following introductory chapters on test-taking, the nature of the NCLEX-RN test, and presentation of their "RACE Model" (for Recognize, Ask, Critically analyze, and Eliminate options) of question analysis, the bulk of the text consists of 13 chapters focusing on disorders affecting the different major body systems. Each of these chapters is divide into four major sections: practice questions, practice questions answers and rationales, a comprehensive examination, and comprehensive examination answers and rationales. The same format is followed for chapters on emergency nursing, perioperative nursing, cultural nursing and alternative health care, end-of-life issues, and pharmacology.
