Atlanta-based landscape architect Cothran (he's affiliated with the U. of Georgia and Georgia State U., and numerous garden and landscape associations) helped initiate a project to inventory and document gardens in Charleston, North Carolina created by Loutrel Briggs (1893-1977). Of interest to landscape architects, urban planners, and garden historians, this book offers a narrative of Charleston's garden history and Briggs' impact, accompanied by numerous color photos and a thorough listing of garden projects--some of which still exist, others of which have been lost. The author's aim is to increase awareness of Briggs' ideas and legacy as well as to support preservation efforts. The book is slightly oversize: 9x12".
