Cozzillio (Widener University School of Law) introduces students to various aspects of professional sports law, including league and association structure, the role of league commissioners, contracting between players and clubs, collective bargaining, application of antitrust laws as they relate to player mobility, and franchise relocation. After a few introductory chapters designed to familiarize the reader with the various components of the sports industry, the bulk of the text is divided into four sections on contracts, antitrust, torts, and labor. Primer chapters are provided in each of these sections. Other areas covered in less detail include intellectual property, agent representation, and discrimination. Issues affecting amateur sports are addressed tangentially. Cases, notes, questions, and comments are presented in the context of discussion and relevant legislation.
