This book extends the feminist theology subfield of creative imagining with traditional Christian doctrines. Whether women are welcomed into partnership and ministry or subject to exclusive male leadership, new imaginings are crucial for the twenty-first century global church. Doctrines of God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, Hope, Mary, theological anthropology with attention to Imago Dei, Grace and Free Will, and creativity are critically imagined to further global gender justice. New ecotheologies are shaped in two chapters. Contributors address doctrines by reflecting on constructive projects from within their respective faith traditions. The African-, Asian-, European- and Latina- American, white British, Dutch and Icelandic women who write here reflect the complexity of ethnic and Christian diversity, as we shape our received traditions.
