Dahal, who has been the Director for the Centre for Nepal Studies in the UK and has worked extensively in public health in such settings as Kathmandu explains Nepalese men's perceptions of their roles in reproduction and, in particular, what constitutes their part in reducing the spread of sexually transmitted disease. Dahal examines the social-cultural mores behind his findings, then analyzes the behaviors of young single or married men. Building upon this extensive primary material he describes the sexual health services for men that are currently available and how effective they are, and details what men still needs, such as male-friendly clinics. This could serve well as a model for inquiry into other health systems, whether or not they are in developing countries, to make up for programs' failure to take the needs of men into consideration in family planning and the reduction of disease.
