The physical framework used to describe the various conversions is endoreversible thermodynamics, a subset of irreversible thermodynamics. Thermodynamics of Solar Energy Conversion provides an excellent generalized introduction into principles of solar energy conversion for everybody knowing some basics of university mathematics.
