This volume of the Israeli Yearbook on Human Rights presents seven articles from a June 2010 conference on "International Law and the Changing Character of War" held at the United States Naval War College. Topics include international legal responses to asymmetric warfare, "lawfare" (i.e., the use of law to try to achieve military goals), low-intensity computer network attack and self-defense, cyber operations and the law of armed conflict, the duty to warn civilians prior to attack under international law, necessary conditions to justify the military detention of individuals, and autonomy regimes under international law. Also included are a handful of recent Israeli Supreme Court decisions involving Israeli military actions in the Occupied Territories of Palestine. Martinus Nijhoff is an imprint of Brill.
