As explained in the preface, this text is intended for an audience of advanced undergraduates or graduate students, law enforcement and death scene personnel, forensic anthropology practitioners, and forensic archaeologists. The four authors-- Tosha L. Dupras, John J. Schultz, Sandra M. Wheeler, and Lana J. Williams--are all affiliated with the U. of Central Florida. They have substantially updated their text making this second edition more complete in terms of scope and pedagogical material. Structured like a field manual, coverage includes tools and equipment, human skeletal terminology, the forensic context, search techniques for locating human remains, methods of geophysical survey, mapping methods, applying archaeological methods in a forensic context, collecting botanical and entomological evidence, collecting skeletal remains, and writing the final report. The appendices contain forms designed for inventories of skeletal remains, summaries of recovery scene and personnel, entomological data, and evidentiary chain of custody, among other activities.
