This Yearbook provides statistical indicators to facilitate international comparisons of the manufacturing sector. Aspects covered include annual growth of the manufacturing sector, distribution of world value, leading producers in selected categories, numbers and gender proportions of employees, wages and salaries, gross output, and gross fixed capital formation. Part I deals with the manufacturing sector as a whole and with its divisions and branches. Statistical indicators are presented in terms of percentage distributions, cross- country averages, ratios, and real growth rates. For the first time, Part I includes some graphical presentations, followed by a brief description of the overall trends of world industrial growth. Part II consists of a series of country/region-specific tables of data obtained from various national and international sources, including the World Bank, OECD, the UN Statistics Division, the International Monetary Fund, and regional development banks. These sources are supplemented with estimates generated by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). This is the 15th issue of UNIDO's annual publication.
