Having written 13 works on military history, Edwards (Center for the Study of the Korean War, Graceland U.-Independence, Missouri) draws on his own experiences and his interviews with other veterans of the war, as well as on written accounts and official records, to identify and briefly describe as many individual operations as possible. Many, and perhaps even most, of the operations involved more than one military service, he says, so his chapters are on primarily ground, primarily air, and primarily naval operations. Another chapter covers primarily specialized, experimental, training, feint, and administrative operations; a final chapter reveals covert and clandestine ones. Within each chapter, the operations are treated alphabetically, but a chronological list is also provided, along with a brief history of the 1950-53 war.
