The 5Is framework is a process model for problem-oriented policing and crime prevention--stressing Intelligence, Intervention, Implementation, Involvement, and Impact--that "can be used to capture and organize practice knowledge during and after preventive action." It is intended by Ekblom (Design Against Crime Research Centre, U. of the Arts London, UK) for addressing deficiencies in crime prevention knowledge and knowledge production processes. In this work he first identifies and analyzes such deficiencies and then presents the 5Is framework in detail and in relation to the Conjunction of Criminal Opportunity cause/intervention model.
