This standards-based handbook offers guidelines for assessing students in grades K-12 in six domains of science: concepts, processes, applications, attitude, creativity, and the nature of science. Following an overview of the six domains, the book looks at the place of assessment in teaching and discusses methods for the evaluation of teaching practice. The rest of the book sets out assessment examples in the six domains for different grade levels. A collection of rubrics and scoring guides includes some examples of unsuccessful as well as successful rubrics. This second edition contains a new chapter on the use of science notebooks. Numerous questionnaires, self-assessments, rubrics, and examples of quizzes and surveys are provided. Enger teaches at The University of Alabama-Huntsville. Yager teaches science education at The University of Iowa. Annotation ©2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
