Gabbidon (criminal justice, Pennsylvania State U. at Harrisburg) presents the second edition of his review of the international theoretical literature within criminology on the relationship between race, ethnicity, and crime, which is intended to provide a starting point for exploring how criminological theory understands and contextualizes racial and ethnic disparities in criminal justice systems. In addition to updating the work with some 100 new citations, he has added new discussions of such emerging perspectives such as "Deadly Symbiosis," critical race theory/criminology, comparative conflict theory, and maximization. Much of the material, however, focuses on traditional criminological theories, although some are left out because of the limited amount of research concerning racial disparities.
