As in previous editions, the 6th edition of this resource presents the results of a survey of worldwide merger notification requirements carried out by the law firm of White & Case LLP (with which both authors are affiliated). Substantially increased over the previous edition, this edition presents information on 217 jurisdictions, a reflection of the impact of globalization in business and the simultaneous increase in the number of countries that are adopting pre-acquisition notification regimes and merger control competition laws. In their introduction, the authors summarize the key issues both domestic and international, including new trends in the US, China, and Europe. The entries for the countries follow, very neatly presented, with each containing an initial summary of the country's mandatory pre-merger notification (when applicable) and clearly outlined discussion of the particulars of that country's agency, affiliation with broader legal bodies such as the EU, the particulars of filing, and recent activity concerning merger law, among other topics.
