This volume, the fourth in the series, contains a list of English, Welsh, Scottish, and Irish immigrants who arrived at the port of New York from July 1871 to April 1872. Passenger lists are arranged chronologically by date of arrival and include names and information on age, sex, occupation, nationality, residence, and planned destination. Other data includes deaths during the voyage, names of ships, ports of embarkation, and date of arrival in New York City. Within each manifest, names are listed alphabetically. The information comes from the original US ship manifest collection in the National Archives. The introduction discusses migration theory and background on the emigration. The intended audience consists of historians and genealogists. Glazier, who is associated with The Battery Conservancy in New York, is the former director of The Center for Migration Research at The Balch Institute for Ethnic Studies and Immigration.
