Summer in the serene fishing village of Sea Harbor, Massachusetts. On any given Thursday evening, you might hear the happy chatter of needles belonging to the Seaside Knitters. Now however; the tightly knit friends must apply their crafty skills to murder.
Beautiful out-of-towner Willow Adams enters into the lives of the Seaside Knitters in a most unconventional way - when the police discover the young artist curled up and sound asleep in the display window of Izzy Chambers's Seaside Knitting Studio. She's come to share her complex creations of twisted wool, silk. and mohair that are as colorful as the free-spirited artist herself. The Seaside Knitters agree that Izzy's customers will love hearing about Willow's work the coming week, But first they'll introduce her to their own art festivity. Art at Night - a gala summer event held the first Sunday of the month in Sea Harbor's Canary Cove art colony.
But that Sunday night, while dance bands play on the pier, local artists display their paintings and pottery, and fireworks fill the summer sky, Nell Endicott discovers enigmatic artist and gallery owner Aidan Peabody - dead in the secluded garden of his Fishtail Gallery.
The Seaside Knitters suspect that this is a homespun homicide. They soon discover more secrets in the cozy town than they could have ever imagined. But the biggest surprise involves Aidan Peabody's will - and the sole heir to his considerable estate. And the Knitters find themselves unraveling Willow Adams's less savory creations from the past.
