Gøtzsche is a specialist in internal medicine, a physician who was involved with clinical trials and regulatory affairs in Copenhagen from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, a professor of clinical research design and analysis at the U. of Copenhagen since 2000, and a prolific writer. He shouts his message in this book, offering lots of examples and pulling no punches. The foreword, by an editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association, calls it "evidence-based outrage" and suggests we need more; and a former editor of the British Medical Journal wrote a second foreword backing up the assertion that activities of the big pharmaceutical companies are comparable to activities of big crime organizations.
