The central purpose of this volume is to present clear, vivid, color photos of the myriad cases that present in emergency rooms. In each instance, multiple views of the condition are featured as well as photos of diagnostic tests such as anatomic findings, toxic exposures, electrocardiographs, x-rays, and others. The accompanying text is pithy and concise. Coverage includes airway, breathing and circulation; medical and surgical emergencies; toxicologic and environmental emergencies; and special issues (e.g. chapters on psychosocial emergencies, alternative medicine, forensic emergency medicine, weapons of mass destruction, complications of procedures, complications of drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, and abuse).
