Gutman (mechanical engineering, Israel Institute of Technology/Technion) has divided the material of this volume into two main topics: control of uncertain dynamical systems and optimal guidance for homing missiles. Part One details the design of an autopilot using robust controllers for linear time-invariant plants having fixed parameters. In Part Two the design of a guidance loop that minimizes the miss distance in the presence of a maneuvering target is described through the use of modeling as a differential game with saddle point.
