Bob Wilber has maintained an illustrious career in music and jazz in particular. Considered one of the premier clarinetists and soprano saxophonists in jazz, he sought out and studied with Sidney Bechet in his late teens and went on to tour Europe with Bechet and Charlie Parker performing at European Festivals at the time.

Bob was also called in to arrange the music for The Cotton Club, a major Hollywood film about this famed nightclub where Ellington's band was launched in New York. He was awarded a "Grammy" for his scoring of this film. Bob today continues to perform throughout the world.

We are pleased to offer these arrangements by this world-class musician, whose other recordings continue to grace our jazz catalogue and are listed below. They may be heard at our www.musiciminusone.com website.

On this rare classic Jazz release the New York City native is at his finest, playing the timeless music of Sidney Bechet alongside such greats as Vic Dickenson, Dick Cary, Barry Galbraith, Dick Wellstood, Leonard Gaskin and Bobby Donaldson. The ensemble puts their stamp on such classic songs as Polka Dot Stomp, Little Creole Lullaby and Quincy Street Jump

Bob Wilber - clarinetist, saxophonist, and bandleader - has done it again. He is featured here with a quintet consisting of Charlie Byrd (guitar), Dave McKenna (piano), George Duviviei (bass) and Bobby Donaldson (drums), as well as a string section conducted by Dean Kincaide. The group swings through nine tracks including "The Duke," "Benny Rides Again" and "Upper Manhattan Medical Group."

In this collection, the purpose was to record a group of originals demonstrating the various directions the blues have taken over the years, from the sim plest twelve-bar pattern to the 12/8 blues we hear today.

Join Bob Wilber in a `pop' collection of original student jazz solos, in duet form. You choose eithe first or second part with Bob as your partner. A challenge in close harmony playing for all clarinetists.

The Legenday Bob Wilber continues as your partner in this second volume of original student jazz duets. You play either part in these great duets by composers Farnsworth and Minor!

In arranging the music for this Music Minus One album, I have endeavored to provide the player with two different types of backgrounds. The smaller group provides an intimate supper-club type of setting, while the larger group is more in the jazz vein.

Some of the arrangements will require repeated listenings to coordinate your part with the band while others you'll find easy going the first time.

I feel that we've compiled a collection of superb tunes in this album. I hope you'll enjoy playing these numbers with the band as much as we enjoyed recording them.
