Han (polymer engineering, U. of Akron) has written a two-volume opus (the volumes are sold individually) laying out the rheological behavior of polymer materials in v.1 and their applications in polymer processing in v.2. Following on the foundations laid out in v.1, v.2 describes the basic processing operations used for thermoplastic polymers and thermosets. Rather than giving recipes, the chapters describe the basic concepts and principles behind the technology, offering engineers in the field thought-provoking material for potential future development. For thermosets, three processes are described: reaction injection molding, pultrusion, and compression molding. For thermoplastic polymers ten separate processes are described.
